Why I Love Hope
Emily has loved Hope since she came as a prospective student in April 2003. The campus is beautiful, and the people and relationships deepen that beauty. People at Hope genuinely care for one another, ask difficult questions and pursue excellence to discern life well. She loves working with students who are driven and also somewhat unsure of what their life may be. Each student, staff member and faculty member at Hope is a joy to get to know their individual gifts, and it is a privilege to be a part of the Hope community that shaped Emily as a young adult and continues to shape her into who God has called her to be.
Outside the College
Emily is married to Sam, who she met in Calculus II at Hope; they enjoy a lot of life outside of work, with three kids and a dog. They love to be outdoors all year long (at least she convinces herself of that during the long winter months) and do so by hiking, biking, camping and enjoying as much sun as possible within West Michigan. Their hearts are tied to North Carolina, and they are grateful to be back in the state of Michigan with additional friendships and closer to family. They attend Maple Avenue Ministries and strive to live in intentional community seeking justice and reconciliation as much as possible on this side of heaven.
