Nicolas Pangborn
Career Advisor & Content Specialist
In July 2022, Nic joined the Boerigter Center team as a career advisor and content specialist. In his role, he meets with students and helps them craft their professional documents, develop their network and guide them in choosing their careers. He is also responsible for managing and producing a large portion of the Boerigter Center’s communications across multiple platforms.
Nic graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2003 with a bachelor of science in telecommunications and film. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University, he worked in video production for a short time and then decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. After working as a production assistant on several large television programs and films, he decided to pursue a more creative career in digital sales. After briefly moving back to the Midwest, he and his wife moved to Clemson, South Carolina, where he began working for Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute. In this job, he found my calling. He was developing programs for at-risk teens and managing college students who supervised those programs. They decided to move back to Michigan in 2020, and he was fortunate enough to find a position at Hope College with the Boerigter Center in July of 2022.
In January 2019, he was awarded Clemson University’s Board of Trustees Award for Excellence. The Board of Trustees seeks to recognize the staff's commitment and dedication to Clemson University by acknowledging the high levels of service achieved by university personnel. Nic was nominated for extraordinary contributions relating to the Clemson Family category. Candidates selected for this category are recognized for providing exceptional service, creating a positive customer experience, and continuously exceeding expectations.
Why I love Hope
Hope is unlike any organization or institution he has ever worked for. The community connection of students, faculty and staff is refreshing, and the culture is very inclusive. He believes in Hope’s mission and is excited to continue encouraging our students to lead and serve the global society utilizing their Christian faith.
Outside the College
Nic enjoys spending time with my wife Stephanie (a professor in the communication department) and their two boys, Palmer and Hudson. He is an avid golfer, enjoys camping and being outdoors, and is passionate about film. He looks forward to being closer to the lakeshore and experiencing all of the wonderful opportunities this side of the state offers.
