RISE helps build college and life readiness skills by providing academic, social and emotional support to high school students through engagement with Hope College students, faculty and staff.

Our RISE program for high school students provides academic support, re-engagement, extended learning and acceleration of grade level standards, while also strengthening social-emotional support and college readiness skills.

Students are assigned a Hope College student mentor, and engage with Hope faculty and staff through workshops and other programs. Using a robust, student-centered, transdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on literature, mathematics and writing through hands-on STEAM activities, students have opportunities to utilize academic discourse, critical-thinking, problem-solving and collaboration to accelerate learning and engage all learners in real world application of skills. Project-based learning, design thinking and voice, choice and agency provide further opportunities for students to deepen their leadership skills and service learning.

After-school programming is offered during the academic year, partnering high school students with Hope College student mentors. We also offer a six-week RISE summer intensive program.
