The Nicene Creed 1700th Anniversary Celebration is a campus-wide initiative that brings together lectures, worship, music and community events to mark the enduring legacy of one of Christianity’s most foundational statements of faith.
Through a variety of programs, the celebration invites students, faculty and guests to reflect on the Creed’s history, influence and contemporary significance.
The Nicene Creed and the Life of the Church
In A.D. 325, bishops from across the Christian world gathered at the Council of Nicaea
and composed what became one of the most enduring confessions of the Christian faith:
the Nicene Creed. Now, 1,700 years later, we have the opportunity to reflect on its
broader influence over time:
- How has it shaped the unity and identity of the global Church?
- What role has it played in guiding theology and worship?
- How does it continue to shape Christian belief and practice today?
Join us as we mark the 1,700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed with a campus-wide series of lectures, panels, worship and music that explore just some of the ways this foundational statement has influenced the life of the Church throughout history and in our own time and place.
